White Mills Fire Department Chicken BBQ
Saturday, September 11th, the White Mills Fire Department will be hosting their 55th Annual Chicken BBQ at the Community Hall, located on Route 6 in White Mills. The money raised will help to keep their equipment up to date and training. The event will be held from 4-8pm, eat-in or take-out and tickets are only $9/person. You have a choice of ham or chicken along with many delicious homemade cakes and desserts. Appraisal Fair
On Saturday, September 11th , The Friends of the Library will be hosting an Appraisal Fair at the Lake Salem Community Library from 11am to 2pm in the Community Room in the lower level of the library. Stop on by and bring some items with you to see what kind of value they hold; $5/item or $12 – 3 items. There will also be a bake sale, Tricky Tray and door prizes. On September 18th , the Honesdale Golf Club will be hosting a golf tournament for the Jeremy J. Hiller Scholarship Fund Benefit. Golf registration is at 11:30am. Evening Festivities will take place at JJ Mack’s Tiki Bar from 8 – 11 pm; including live entertainment from 30 Pack Joe and of course, dancing! Bill Rice & Family Benefit – Chicken BBQ
On Sunday, September 19th, the Greely Fire Dept, on Route 590 will be hosting a benefit for Bill Rice, his wife Janet, and their four daughters. Bill has been battling ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) for over 2 years. Bill has been a very active member of the community throughout the years and has helped his community in many ways. Now it’s our time to help out Bill. Please come out and support Bill and his family at the chicken BBQ. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and will take place from 1-5pm. Wayne County Historical Society Harvest Festival
On September 26th, The Wayne County Historical Society Harvest Festival Committee is hosting a benefit to help raise money for the Historical Society’s Museum and Library. The event takes place from 5-9pm at the Bryn Mawr Conference Center in Dyberry Twp. Tickets are $50 for adults and will include a harvest-style buffet dinner, wine, beer, soft drinks and lots of fun! Entertainment will be provided by Doug Smith’s Fabulous Music of the 40’s & 50’s. There will also be a silent auction. Dancing and casual dress are encouraged. Come Paint with Me Painting Landscape painting Program will be held on Thursday, September 9th from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. You can either join the artists or observe them at work in the fields and forests of Grey Towers for these outdoor painting and sketching sessions. Discover Pinchot Family History on Milford Town Tour on Saturday, September 4th at 11 a.m. Meet on the lawn of the Community House (Pike County Library) Broad & Harford Street, Milford for a guided walk of Milford and learn about how one family helped shape the community. On Saturday, September 11th at 7 p.m. the Lacawac Sanctuary will host the Young Geezers. Their repertoire includes a mix of folk, bluegrass, old-timey, gospel, blues, Texas swing & even sea chantey.. Donation $8 for non-members, $5 for Lacawac members and children under 12 are free.

John Maza, Pa Department of Conservation & Natural Resources Forestry will lead an educational walk at Lacawac Sanctuary on Saturday, September 11th from 2 - 4 p.m. Learn about the services and program provided by the Bureau of Forestry as well as how to identify different types of trees by their leaves and bark; how to determine if trees are valuable for timber or wildlife & how to determine if the forest is healthy and forest pest management. Friends of Liberty Library are proud to present a unique and exciting fundraising event on September 26, 2010 – “A Day at Bethel Woods”. This full day event includes an insider’s tour of the performing arts center, including backstage, with local celebrity Duke Devlin, who will inform and entertain with anecdotes about the original 1969 festival. Next, participants will visit The Museum at Bethel Woods and the Special Exhibit Gallery. And to top off the day, guests will attend the Explore the Arts themed Harvest Festival at Bethel Woods and receive a commemorative tote bag. A donation of $20 per person is requested.
